Healing: Your Medusa piercing will only take between 6 - 12 weeks to heal, providing the correct aftercare is applied. To ensure a smooth and speedy healing process, simply follow these steps:
Clean the outside of your piercing with a warm salt water solution in the morning and before bed
Rinse your mouth with warm salt water after eating
Use a soft bristled toothbrush to clean your teeth, with a mild toothpaste and avoid mouthwash containing alcohol
Avoid eating any spicy foods as this could irritate the piercing
Don't smoke or drink alcohol as this could make your healing time last a lot longer
Don't apply any cosmetics to this area to avoid any irritation
Don't fiddle with the piercing and make sure your hands are clean when you touch the piercing
Some swelling is completely normal during the first few weeks after your piercing is done. However, if you experience any severe swelling, redness, pain or discharge, seek medical attention right away. Similarly, if your labret starts to sink into your lip or your jewellery starts to irritate your gums, ask your piercer for advice immediately.
Jewellery: Labret studs are ideal for this type of piercing because they draw attention to the shape of your lips. Typically, a slightly larger gauge is used in a fresh Medusa piercing, but after about six weeks it can be changed to smaller jewellery.
